This year has been a great year for our family. We had some "trying" times with our house situation, but now that we are in it I can say that it is worth every minute. Our lives have been hectic it seems from the moment we have met, but this year things have started to slow down for us and we have gotten to just enjoy life and being parents.
G is growing in leaps and bounds and I fall more in love with him everyday. This little guy has melted my heart. Yes, he is a boy, don’t get me wrong - he screams at times I wish he wouldn't, he doesn’t always share his toys and yes he still drinks out of a bottle but, he hugs me every time I ask him, he smiles every morning when I pick him up, he snuggles every night with me as I am rocking and his good points out weighs his bad - a million to one and when he calls me momma, the world stops.
J has been a wonderful husband and a great friend this year, living with my parents I didn’t have many opportunities for girl time or girl nights and he so filled that void. He went out of his way to be there for me and to just listen when I was feeling overwhelmed with the house situation. He truly is my best friend and brings out the best in me.
I feel like for the first time that I am truly home, don’t get me wrong I loved our last house, but J had owned it before we got married and as much as he tried to make it feel like it was "ours" , I just never felt completely home.
This year has been a growing year for me, some of my friendships have faded and some new friendships have blossomed and some have stayed the exact same, consistent :-)
I love where we are, I don't know what the new year will bring for us as a family, hopefully a new addition, but no matter what happens I know that I have my best friend at my side and together we make an awesome team.
This blog was created to keep everyone up to date with our world and enjoy the adventure with us! Buckle up for the ride ...

CONGRATS!!
One thing that I have missed having in my life has been a little sister, but there are a group of friends that have always filled that void in my life and that is the Stewart Girls and Lulu. They mean more to me than I could even explain. Each one of them have a special, but different place in my heart. Jules announced her engagement over Christmas and I can honest say that I was so happy I almost cried. My life has had many turns in it and some friendships have faded, but O am happy to say with this group of girls they have remained the same even though I don't get to see them very often.....
CONGRATS!! JULES - I AM SO HAPPY FOR YOU. Looks like this calls for another beach trip!

To all our single friends.
J & I have a couple friends are awesome people that have not found their special "someone" this blog is for them.
I know how it feels to go through the holidays with out someone special and as much as you say that you are doing ok, I know in the back of your mind you wish you had someone special to share this time of the year with. I just want to encourage you to be patient. My mom was my biggest supporter when I was single, she always told me that it is better to be alone than with the wrong person. I use to think in the back of my mind, whatever…. But now that I am married I can say she was and is so right. Short term happiness sometimes is not worth it. I just want to encourage you to be patient, there is nothing better in life than being married to the right person. Life can sometime bring a tidal wave and if you don’t have someone willing to ride the waves with you then life can be pretty miserable. I remember the Christmas before J & I met I went to my parents house and then came home to an empty condo and someone had emailed me and said this could be your last Christmas alone, so enjoy the quietness… little did she know she was right. So to all my single friends, enjoy the quietness… this could be your last Christmas alone.

The ONLY thing G wants for Christmas....next year
Bowling with Terry
Just some video of Gideon in action with the bowling set Terry brought over last night. Gideon caught on to bowling totally last night, after some earlier practice rounds with Tyler the other day. He perfected his style last night and got his first strike.

Good News!
We only have one Christmas present to buy and then we are done. We do need to wrap and ship, but that is something that can be done rather quickly. Christmas has been so special this year, G makes it so much more fun. We have went on several "field trips" in the evenings so he can see all the neighborhood lights. He truly is adorable, his latest words are Canta Cause... suprising enough he hasn't really bothered any of the presents under the tree.
We are looking forward to this weekend, we have a party and the rest of the time going to just enjoy the Holiday season.
Now if work would just slow down, I would really be happy :-)

Things I have learned this past week..
The past week has been an emotional week for me, we found out on Sunday that we where expecting and ended up miscarrying on Friday. I am a firm believer on things happen for a reason, but at the same time felt a loss.
We only had told a couple people but it amazed me the response we had and the kind thoughts and hugs that where sent our way.
Things that I have learned or should I say things that I was reminded of....
I am a very blessed person, I married a wonderful man whom truly is my best friend.
I have wonderful parents and a great extended family.
Our friends are priceless.
My little boy is perfect.
and life is good, even when you hit a bump in the road.
and God is faithful.

My Red Door Suprise
When J & I first put our house on the market we where expecting it to take a while to sell, much to our surprise we had a contract on it before it was officially on the market. This was a good thing and a bad. Great that we didn't have to sit and wait, but bad that we didn't have anything picked out meaning in less than 3 weeks we would have to pack and find another place to call home.
I had been surfing the housing market for months prior to us selling, but as usual, when you have the money to buy you can't find anything. I was on every realtor list, so the very day Winter Park came on the market we where there that morning looking at it. My sister-in-law was our realtor and always managed to get to the house before we did, but that morning we beat her and the moment we pulled into the drive, I LOVED the house, it was exactly what we wanted and in our price range. She had a habit that every house we looked at we had to tell her what we liked and what we didn't. As we where standing in the driveway before even walking into the house, I told her that I was ready to sign the contract I didn't even need to see inside, she laughed and said there had to be something I didn't like and I told her that yes, it didn't have a red door.
We closed on the house on the 14th of October, but couldn't get an occupancy permit until this week. J had stayed at the house all week working late hours getting stuff done, so Wednesday night after getting off work, G and I drove in to spend our first official night home. When I pulled into the driveway I noticed something was different about the house, much to my surprise J had painted the door red and had a card attached that said "Welcome Home". I can not tell you how special that moment was, it's amazing the brownie points a 5.00 can of red paint can get you.

44 days till Christmas
So we started our Christmas shopping this past weekend. I want to "smart" shop this holiday and not get so caught up in the "spending spirit" so we made a list of all the people we buy for and happy to say I have about 1/2 done and even happier to say we are below budget.
Here is a great website for all the friday shoppers! I am hoping Memphis has the same great deals :-)

One of my new favorite things
Someone bought this for us back in June when the bank first accepted our bid on the house and I am happy to say that after five months that is is finally where it belongs. In our dining room!! It looks even better when the it is turned on. The house is coming along great, we have hit a couple bumps, but so far nothing major (knock on wood). J meantioned last night that every day it is looking more and more like home. We should be moved in in less than a week. To say I am excited is an understatement. I cant wait to be able to cook in my own kitchen and lay in my own bed... ignore all the boxes in the background we are waiting on the countertops to be able to unpack the kitchen.

Progress this week
Carpet is being installed upstairs tomorrow and our new cabinets are being delivered too. They will be installed on Friday. I am loving the progress we are making, some things are a little behind schedule, but overall we are doing well, thanks to our great friends and our faithful babysitters (the grandparents) . The next weeks we have a lot to do, but then hopefully will be able to move in on the 20th of November. We only have one more POD to empty and that one shouldnt take too long since it has all of our furniture in it. I am getting more and more excited, my birthday is on the 24th and this year the only thing I want is to be able to sleep in my own bed!
The past couple of months have dragged, but now its like time is flying. I just need a couple more hours in the day and I could get so much accomplished. :-)

Love the "Man" Power
I have never been one to ask for help, most of my life I have been pretty independent. If I could do it on my own, about 95% of the time I would. But there are some limits to the things that I can do with being a girl. We have been trying to get our stuff unloaded from the storage units we have so we dont incure another month of storage cost. Thankfully with the help of some friends, it looks like we are going to suceed. Thank you to all the "guys" that have stopped in to help!! I don't want to mention names, but you know who you are and it is very much appreciated. Thank you to for the wives that have encouraged them to help!! We have been truly blessed with wonderful friends. Some of them have even "painting" lessons :-)

Spoiled and loving it...
I always knew that I had great parents, but when it comes to being grandparents they are the VERY best. G has been teething and hasn't felt very well the past couple of days so needless to say he hasn't been eating much lately. Tonight while I was working, I heard G talking in the kitchen and I went in to see what all the excitement was, I walked in and saw G's plate and instantly knew why he was so happy. Pa had cooked his two favorite things....appetite was back.
Thanks Dad for being such an awesome Pa !!

We have our house!! Let the work begin.
Recap: we sold old house in June to buy this one July 6th, but this one's pipes burst before closing, so we switched to rehab loan which took 70 days to reach closing. We've been staying with in-laws in Washington, MO, and will be for one more month while rehab is done. But we do own a house again. :)
Josh spent the first evening pulling up all of the carpet, then removing staples from the stairs and dining room floor (thx Tim O. for the help) while I got our new cabinets ordered. We are going to start painting this weekend, hopefully everyone will stay on schedule. Our goal is to be in by mid-November.
The only thing I can say is that for the price and the house we are getting it for, it was so worth the wait.

Recycled Toys
I am sure that all parents are like us that we accumulate lots of toys, toys that are either passed down, bought, or mysteriously show up. We had only planned to be at my parent's house for two weeks so I didnt pack many toys and the toys that I did pack G is bored with, so today I decided to hit the consignement store here in Washington to get some new toys that will occupy him until we get moved in.
I was quite pleased with my find of the day. G was too! as soon as he saw it in the store he wanted it, this has entertained him most of the day. I am sure the toy wasnt designed for the way that he played with it, but if it makes him happy and its safe, then this momma is happy too.

Gotta luv a great deal!
So we close on our house in 3 weeks, one thing that J and I agreed on was that we weren't going to go crazy and spend a lot of money buying stuff for the new house.
Our original date to close on the house was July 6th, so I have had a ton of time thinking and planning how I wanted to decorate the house. I loved our last house, but wanted to do different colors, which meant a lot of my decorations, rugs, and curtains would not match. I am happy to say that patience and discipline has paid off. Almost everything I wanted to buy I found this week at Target for 75% off. We needed several large area rugs and managed to get most of them for $30.00 or even cheaper. The bath rugs where less than $5.00. Yes, I had to go to 3 different stores to get everything, but when you see what I spent and what I got, you would have done the same thing!!

A great day.
So today we met up with some friends and went to six flags. We got there at 3:30, and hit almost all of the good rides before the park closed at 8... Evil knievel (quite fast, and fun), the Scrambler (now called Shazam!), Mr. Freeze (always good), Thunder River (soaked), the Mine Train (still as jerky as I remember, still fun too [I still remember losing my green visor on there as a small child]), The Screaming Eagle (a classic, though it is getting bumpy again), bumper cars (still very fun), rush street flyer (I can see the car from here!), scooby doo's haunted swamp (we're still young), Batman (smooth and fun), the Ninja (bumpy for steel, but still consistently good), and Tony Hawk's big spin (enjoyable and very dizzying).
All in great weather with my beautiful wife and great friends. It was a truly great day.
-Josh
Oh, and we took only one picture of us... :)
I should also mention that I bought Gideon a lightsaber toy, which he enjoyed when we got home. He already knows to say, "Voooom, vooom" when waving it around :)

My new addiction!!
Anyone that knows me very well, knows I have a huge shutterfly addition. My favorite memory growing up was sitting in my Grandma V's basement and looking through all of her photo albums. Scrapbooking is awesome, don't get me wrong, but I love being able to create an entire book in one night and have it shipped to me in less than a week.
Blogging is something that I enjoy doing, but hated that I wasn't able to "keep" it or be able to print it until now, I found a website called Blog2print.com and received my first book on Friday. The book looks like a shutterfly album, the website uploads all the pictures, text and comments and even puts the original date of the posting on it. Super cool!!
Check it out bloggers, you won't be disappointed. Great way to "keep" the postings for your kids! So yes they will know what we thought of parenthood and all the successes and mistakes we made :-)

Living with Pa and Barba
So we have been staying with my parents for the past two months while we settle things with the house, aren't going to go into details on the blog for varies reasons.... anyhow....G has become very attached to his grandparents so much in fact that he is on first name with my mom. It is rather amusing hearing a little guy running down the hall calling out for her - Barba, Barba...
In around about way it has sorta been nice being back at home, I am not going to lie I hate the sofa bed and I hate even more the drive from Washington to St. Louis, but it has sorta caused me to slow my life down. I miss my friends, but I do enjoy the time I have gotten to spend with my parents. I tease them that G is going to have major withdraws once we do move, but I think I will too.
Thanks Mom and Dad for being so great to us the past month!!

THANK YOU! THANK YOU! To say that I appreciate all you did is an understatement! Thanks to the parents for entertaining the little one the past two weekends while we where packing!! We so owe all of you!
We are camping with the parents until we can close on the new house so if you need us, call our cells or email us.

We have a new home!!
We officially close on our current house on June 29th and we close on our new home on July 8th. Our new house is located in Fenton and it is gorgeous, it has an awesome backyard, 3 bedrooms and a family room upstairs and the downstairs has an open floor plan. It is about 3 times the size of our current house so to say that I am excited is an understatement. It was a foreclosure so there are a couple of things that need to be done, but nothing that we can't handle.
More pictures will be posted once we are moved in! Sorry to say there will be no 4th of July party! We are thinking of having a "Paint Party" if anyone is interested in attending, please let us know!
Happy Father's Day to the "Great Men" in my life!
I have been very blessed in life to be surrounded by "Great Men". My grandpa's where both the most loving men I have met in my life. My Grandpa D would never let us leave without kissing him goodbye, most of the time he wouldn't even talk to us unless we hugged him first. Grandpa V was the same way, he would smile as soon as we walked into the room. My dad is a mirror of his dad, he is kind, gentle and loves his kids, and adores his grandchildren. I can never remember a time that my dad has not been there when I needed him.
I have been very blessed to marry a man that has some of the same qualities, Josh is patient, strong and loving and I couldn't ask for a better husband or father for Gideon... Jim or should I say "Dandy" has outdone himself as a father and grandfather. He has gone out of his way to be involved in G's life even if he is 10 hours away.
If I had one wish for my little boy, I hope he inherits the following qualities from his grandpa's and his dad and I hope he becomes a "Great Man"

Good Friends...
Lately, I have been terrible about blogging, any spare time has been spent on the house and G's big weekend....tonight I decided to finally catch up on reading everyone's blogs and decided to steal this picture...it was too cute not. This is Tim & Chris' adorable little girl and G at his baptismal. I think I see trouble in the future.

We sold our house!!
Closing date is June 29th - Friends save boxes :-)
We are pretty excited considering it officially was listed as a "no show" until June 8th. The first person that saw it is the one that placed the offer. We are very excited to say the least.
We are actually putting a contract on another house tomorrow, we will give more details once our offer is accepted.

Being a mom
So this is my first official Mother's Day and wow what a great one it has been, to say the least. Josh went out of his way to make today special.
This is my first year to be a mom, this time last year I had actually just came home from being in the hospital for 5 days due to pre-term labor. I remember being so scared, but thankfully everything worked out and my little one decided to wait to come.
I have learned more this year than I think I have any "single" year of my life, here are some of them.
1. Who knew I could survive on a couple hours sleep.
2. Being woke up in the middle of the night isn't so bad when they lay in your arms and say - Momma, momma, momma
3. A little boy can melt my heart in two seconds flat.
4. That the word momma is the best word in the world when it said by your little one.
5. I have so many of my mom's traits than I can even list.
6. That my mom was right, I didn't understand until I had children of my own.
7. That being a mom is truly the best thing in the world.
Happy Mother's Day to all the mommies, mommies to be, & mommies trying to bees!
and to my Mom,
Thanks for being such a great Mom!!
This is my favorite picture, he actaully has his arm around me.

Video Update
So here are a few videos for everyone to enjoy. In our first video, we see the standard reaction to Dad getting home. Dad loves this.
In our second video, we see a quick Easter kiss between Dada and Mama. The great part about this video is the look he gives when it happens. I've watched this over and over and cracked up. I think he's saying something to the effect of, "Oh no... they're kissing behind me aren't they?"
Next we have just a very cute moment.
And lastly... we have Gideon's first steps caught on video! Note that the actual first steps came about a week ago, but we hadn't caught it on video until now. Enjoy!

Summer is almost here!
I love Spring, Summer and Fall, but hate Winter. I actually planned G's due date around the fact that I didn't want to have a baby in the winter. I hate layers and the very thought of having to bundle a baby up all the time is something I would dread. I think I have passed this trait on to G. We so have an outside baby, most people use their tv as their babysitter, we use our french doors, if he can see outside he is one happy baby.
We received several gift cards for shower gifts and since we where blessed to get almost everything we registered and more I decided to wait to use them till recently. We went Monday and used the one from Uncle John to get him a wagon, as you can see in the picture, he loves it. Favorite Toys
So, we've had a pretty good rotation of toys around here, as things lose Gideon's interest and new more complicated toys take their place. The simple rattles or small toys with bells and chewy cellophane filled parts have mostly been put aside, and replaced by hard chewy rubber toys, and the texture and gripping toys have mostly grown uninteresting. A couple of toys, however, just keep entertaining at all stages. The Leapfrog activity table was great fun without legs, and more so now that he can stand over it. The wooden four wheeled activity cube with abacus, shape sorter, flipping picture things, etc. has also provided a lot of amusement and helped him learn to stand.
One toy seems to wind up moving from room to room more often than the others. That's Toby the Talkbot, which Tammy found before he was born, and we had as part of the theme in the nursery. It's not a terribly complex toy. It only has four buttons, which make the robot say or sing things about shapes and numbers. If it's on a flat solid surface, a sensor on the bottom turns on the motion part, which makes it sway and wave one arm and move it's eyes while talking. It also has a little 5x6 LED screen that lights up with shapes or letters or patterns. However, for a simple toy, it's been entertaining him since he could focus on the screen, and more so once he learned that bright colored shapes on bigger objects tend to be buttons. When we're getting ready in the morning, Toby goes in the playpen. When we're in his room, Toby goes on the floor. When we're in the living room, Toby goes on the fireplace. In the basement, Toby goes anywhere. Anyway, here's a video of Toby in action for you all to enjoy. :)

TWO WONDERFUL YEARS!!
So we celebrated our 2nd anniversary this week. Josh earned tons of brownie points, he took the day off and took me to the outlets and then to Ruth Chris' for dinner and the Cheesecake Factory for dessert!!! I love being married to such a thoughtful person!! He truly is the best thing to ever happen to me.

Happy Anniversary - Mom & Dad aka Mama & Papa
So I am posting this late, I keep meaning to do it and of course I remember when I am in bed all comfy for the night, but I am determined to do this now!!
Thank you, Parents for a great childhood! I have so many great memories that are all due to you both. I think the reason I value my relationship with Josh is because of the relationships you both have with each other! I am so proud to call you both my parents!
Love you!!

CHANGE IS GOOD...
So anyone that knows me knows I am a COACH girl, I have been for years. I have the most useless information stored in my brain about their products that you can imagine, I can tell you the year and even the season most purses are and I can spot a fake a mile away. I have about everything COACH you can imagine and have always loved their products…who doesn’t love fine leather! But things have started to change.
I have never been a follower, in fact I am pretty much the opposite, if you buy blue I would by green and so on… well the COACH fakes have hit the streets in masses and so I have decided that I want to be a little different this spring… drum roll please ….
May I introduce Ms. Burberry….. It was a toss up between her and Ms. Kate Spade…. I am not sure how long I will have this one, but change is good even if it is for just a short time :-)

Our New Adventure...
So we have decided to try to put our house on the market this year. We have realized recently that it is not quite big enough for the three of us. G has tons of toys and is all over the place so we thought now would be the best time to do this before we add an addition to our clan.
So we have started the final finishing touches to be able to put the house on the market. The thing that stinks is that you do all this and then you move. I told Josh the next house I want to plan on staying in for a while.
One thing that I can say that I am glad I married a "handy" man, as I am blogging he just finished installing a new vanity, sink, & faucet in my bathroom. Since we have been working on the house for the past three years, luckily we don't have much left to do, just the basement and the master bath and a couple touch ups.
and of course...de-clutter the house. We have been going through stuff lately and WOW can you accumulate a lot in a short time. I can say that I am looking forward to this, as much as I hate moving it causes you to re-organize and we will have more room this time. My one main requirement is a storage room!
So let the fun begin :-)

Another ear infection ...
So G has another ear infection, I have lost count on how many we are up to now. Thank God for great health insurance. We go for his 9 month check up on March 11th and it looks like he may have to have tubes :-( .....
He now has two teeth, I wanted to post a picture of them, but getting him to keep his mouth open long enough to take a picture is impossible.
He is getting sweeter and cutier every day. I try not to brag too much, but sometimes its hard not too.
I told Josh the other day that I am so glad he is ours.

So Proud!!
Tonight is a pretty emotional night for me. I can honestly say that everything going on oversees has not really effected me personally until today. Anyone that knows me knows there is a family very close to me, in all actuality I am closer to them than some of my family. They have been part of my life for the last 20 years. It started off with me having them after school at the preschool and then I became part of their family when I was their nanny. They where three little boys that made me want to have only boys. They where the 100% boys and got into any type of trouble they could, but they where still sweethearts. The boys where introduced to me whe the oldest one was only 5. That one leaves for Iraq tomorrow. I can't tell you how proud I am of him! but there is a all of me wishes he was still the little boy running around playing cowboys and indians instead of going over there to fight for the cause he believes in.
Tim-
My prayers and thoughts are with you!! I am your biggest fan!
Love you!
