Gideon's Birthday

Happy 6th birthday to my little man! I just put him to bed 30 minutes ago, after we played video games, caught fireflies (okay we only caught one) and then played more games. He has brought so much fun and love into our lives and we are thankful for him every day! We Love You G!

Leaf time

Decided today was perfect for the main leaf cleanup. I had a little help...


And midway through, on a cloudy day with occasional sprinkles, I looked up and the sky had momentarily cleared and it was nice to see my progress.


Tammy hit a major milestone today too. She went up to Indiana for the opening of the first store to carry her products. We're all very proud of her here at home.

Exercise

Gideon pulled his legs backwards tonight and asked, "Dad, is this exercising? It must be, because it hurts my body."
In other news, Gideon finished soccer 2, 2, and 6. All of the ties were 0-0. Sylvia's team was a bit harder to track the points of, so I'm not sure where she finished. Here are some pictures though:

Also we started a junior Lego league with some friends. We had the kids build something they felt we should name it for. G built an alien, A built a treasure box, and K built a ship. So the team will be named the Alien Treasure Ships. I rather like it :)

A busy day for Daddy and Sylvia

We had a busy day today. I had the day off, so I took Sylvia to the zoo, then the Magic House, then her first soccer practice!

Happy Birthday Sylvia!

Three years ago she came into our lives, Daddy had a sweetheart, Bubby had a sissy and I had a new little friend.
She adds sunshine and sparkle to our days, and lights up our lives in tons of ways.
She's sweet and sassy, and dances to her own beat, and without her our lives would be incomplete.
I love her inside and out.
Isn't this what life is truly about!

Happy 6 Year Wedding Anniversary!

Our lives seem to be a continual whirlwind of adventure and excitement. In 6 years of marriage we have done so many things. Had a baby, bought and rehabbed a house, had another baby, traveled occasionally, and now Tammy is even starting a small online business. We've been blessed with good friends, good family, and wonderful children. Our marriage has been the most wonderful thing for us both. Here's to six wonderful years, and many many more to come.

Cupcakes

Daddy was gaming Friday night so when I asked the kids what they wanted to do, Sylvie wanted to make cupcakes. So we made cupcakes for Daddy! We had to taste test before he got home, I have to say vanilla bean cupcakes with lemon cream cheese icing is delicious.

It really is a wonderful life!

This week marks one year of being an official "Stay at home mom". It has been a wonderful year, I feel extremely blessed that God opened or should I say closed doors that allowed me this honor. The house is semi quiet right now, Sylvie is asleep, Josh is gaming with friends, Gideon is playing transformers and I am just relaxing. My life is so wonderful, it didnt necessary turn out the way I thought it would, but turned out great. Gideon is growing up so fast, he starts kindergarten this year! I just want to stop time. He is so smart (of course) and so sweet at the same time. He adores Josh and at times I do have to say I feel a little left out, but then Josh reminds me that a little girl is the same way with her momma. She is almost potty trained!!! She has been so easy! We are still working on #2 but she is making progress. I am so happy to be almost done with diapers, but then sad at the same time that the baby stage is almost over. She is my little buddy. She tells me daily that I am her best friend. (heart melt) Well off to get a little boy to bed, just wanted to blog for a minute. :-) Good night friends!

Happy Kitchen

I spend a lot of time in my kitchen (waist line actually shows) but truthfully most of art projects, game time, hanging out is in our kitchen. The colors I choose are very muted colors, colors I would not get tired of, but recently I have started to want to add some color.

I have everything, not to sound spoiled but I don't need anything. Sure I have wants, but when people started asking me what I wanted I didn't know what to say till I started thinking about things I like but would never spend the money. One thing is fiesta dishes. So I decided when someone asked I would mention that.... Well lets just say you ask you shall receive. I was pleasantly surprised to receive 6 sets for Christmas. I found a matching pitcher and 4 glasses for 5.00 at goodwill! The kids love them, every night when I set the dishes out for Gideon to set the table I hear him ask everyone what color they want. There is something about them that brightens my day!

Paris - my love

Anyone that knows me knows I love to travel, my one dream is to travel Europe, but this dream has been put on hold while we enjoy the season of parenthood. I would never be able to leave them to travel oversees so until the older I dream.... And decorate :-). Sylvie's room is one of my happy places. Her room makes me smile! We have been wanting to paint a mural on the wall but haven't had time. Today I found the coolest Eiffel Tower! My favorite Craigslist find ever!!! When she saw it her response was " that's a big Eiffel Tower" and all smiles! Looks the mural will be painted around it :-)

Fall - oh how I love thee!

We have made it a tradition to spend Thanksgiving with Dandy and GranDawn. The kids love it and I love getting out of town for a bit! One of the highlights of our trip this year was stopping at Lamberts on the way. Daddy loved it he said it reminded him of home. Gideon wasn't too thrilled at the fact that people were going to throw bread at him, but quickly joined the game.








The kids love the house in Memphis since it has a wonderful fenced yard and a great park across the street.










Friday is spent with the MS family which is also a highlight!

Great food, memories and shopping = a great weekend!

Spin

I love dressing my kids and anyone that knows me knows I would rather spend money on their clothes than my own, from the time they were small after I finished getting them ready I would have them spin and i would say "oh so handsome" or "oh so pretty" and they smile so big!

Tonight I went to dinner with a friend and instead of wearing the normal jeans and a sweater I decided to dress up, when I walked down the stairs G said "Mommy spin" I can honestly say I did without even thinking and when he I stopped he said "Oh so pretty" ...... Lets just say this little guy melted my heart in more ways than you can even imagine!

Just pictures I love - of the people I love

Fall!!! So long great summer.

So this summer I decided to lay low, instead of doing the inviting, I decided to be the invited. I didn't plan playdates or organize parties or huge girls nights. I just went with the flow. I felt like if someone wanted to see me/us that they would could initiate it. You may call this being a bad friend, but I think there comes a time in life that you need to just be still. One of my favorite verses is "Be still and know that I am your God". This has been a year of resting for me. I didnt over schedule or feel the need to go to every cool event. I just mentally rested. If someone called to ask to do something, I would return the favor and call them the next time, but wouldnt invite everyone to join us. I can say that it has turned out sort a interesting. Some friends that I thought would call, never called and some that I hadnt heard from in months suddenly started calling. Some friendships strengthened and some grew more distant.

I feel this has been a summer of growth for me. My house feels so much like home, projects have been started and completed. I told Josh several years ago that I wanted our children to love and be proud of our home. Not that we have the biggest or the smallest house on the street, but that this house was their home. A place to rest and feel loved. I know that every generation is different, but I remember that growing up we did fun things on the weekend as a family with family friends. I want my children to find more enjoyment and contentment playing in their rooms / backyard as they do playing at the park. I want them to treasure each other as a playmate more than than the friends down the street. I know they are little but I think this year they have. Gideon school has VIP night and he got to choose one special person to go with him and he chose his sister. I mentioned several friends to him, Aunts, Uncles, cousins and friends and his response was "Mommy - Sissy is my berry important person". I hope and pray that they always have this closeness.

So after not having a vacation in over two years, we thought it was time.... And oh what a great time we are having!
