Schedule..

Today is the first day that I am alone with the little one. Josh took two weeks off to help get settled in and I can say that it was great having him here, I was actually able to get lots of rest.

Things are going great with the little one, he is developing his own personality, he even smiled this morning for Josh when he kissed him goodbye. I know he is a little over two weeks old, but it amazes me how much quickly they change.

I am determined to make good use of the next couple of weeks, so my goal is to start getting things done....and not just spoil our little one, ok well not totally spoil him. :-)

Father’s Day

So, we had a great visit from my dad and stepmom, that's Dandy and GrandDawn to all the grandkids.  Right before Gideon was born, we all decided that it'd be great for them to come up on Father's day weekend to meet their new grandson, and visit with all of my siblings too.

So, they arrived on Friday, and spent the afternoon holding Gideon, and watching him sleep.  Gideon actually was still in the bili-bed until Friday afternoon, so we had to wait a little bit until the nurse called and said he was good to go before we could pick him up very much, but once we got the okay, we took him off the bed and let them hold him for a while.  Naturally we took several pictures.  I'll add them here later, have to download the camera to this machine...

After that, Dad and I played some Set Cubed, while the ladies napped, then we all went to Babies'R'Us to get some portraits of Dad and the baby to go with a portrait we still had of Dad with me for his Father's day gift, a Generations 3 photo frame showing all 3 generations of Dalton men.  We also had his baby announcement photos done then too, but I'm not posting that picture... you'll all have to wait until you get one in the mail.  Anyway, the photos turned out great, mostly because Dandy was eating Gideon up :)

How great is that picture?

Dad spent Saturday visiting with my other siblings, and meeting his other new grandson, Westley, whose picture I'll need to snag off Paige's site.  Meanwhile Tammy and I ran around getting the photos and frames picked up for Dad's Father's day gift.  Okay, Tammy went into Babies'R'Us, then stayed in the car while I went into Target and Thing's Remembered... she's still not supposed to exert herself too much.

On Sunday, Dad & Dawn, Dawn & Don, and Cara, Eric, and Davin all came over and brought a wonderful brunch to our house, and we all just hung out and took lots of pictures of people holding Gideon.  I'll get those up here soon too.

A major Thank You goes to Dad/Dandy and Dawn/GrandDawn for coming into town and making my first Father's Day extra special...

It was my best Father's Day ever.

Dad’s New Toy ….

New Daddy thought that since the air conditioner quit and the car seat wouldn't fit that it was time to say goodbye to his car.  He has always prided himself in driving his cars into the ground, so it was a change for him to say goodbye when the car had several "good" years left.   I am the opposite considering I have had several cars since I started driving.  My parents came over and I sent him car shopping with my dad and told him that I trusted his judgment just wasn't ready for a minivan, not meaning to pick on the minivan people, I am sure I will be joining your club in the future.  :-)

Here is a picture of his new toy.

Good News

This is my first blog since our little one has arrived, Proud Daddy has been taking care of all the posts/updates.

Well he finally arrived! The delivery went very well.  I can say I didn't really have time to get nervous, it took less than 2 hours for us to check in, settle in to the room and c-section to be completely over and holding our little one.  A moment that I will never forget.

I did have some complications on Friday night, but thankfully had a very aggressive doctor that didn't take any chances.  I had started hemorrhaging, and without going into the gory and scary details, everything turned out ok, just had never been so scared in my entire life.

We are happy to say that Gideon is over his jaundice too and is no longer required to lay in the bilirubin bed anymore and I can hold him anytime I want, so we are making up for the three days we could only hold him to feed him.

I am very biased when it comes to him, but I can say without a doubt that he is the most handsome little guy I have ever seen!

Welcome to our world little one!!

More baby pictures

I know I have a biased opinion but Gideon is the best looking newborn I've ever seen.  I know behavior is apt to change in the following week or two when we get him home and he's feeding on the real milk, and we don't have the nurses to help us watch him, but right now he is so easy to calm down when he's upset, and just such a great baby.

We've seen the stories of mom's who try feeding the baby and have no luck and get upset and worried... basically any book about newborns or babies has an entire chapter about how it's sometimes difficult to get the baby feeding naturally.  This baby is not the one they are talking about.  We've had no problems there either...

Okay, I'm going to post this extra picture then edit this post some more.  It looks like he's saluting :)

He’s HERE!

8 lbs. 12.5 oz. and 21.5 inches long!

The long wait has ended, and Gideon Clayton Dalton has arrived. So, here are some first pictures for all of you to enjoy.

We're here at the hospital for a few more days, so anyone in town that wants to visit, just call us first to make sure we don't get overwhelmed.

He's doing great, and I'll have more pictures up here soon. Right now my favorite is the one of Tammy and Gideon looking at each other. I'm going to head back to the room now, but look for more info here soon!
